Ilya won his eighth victory in nine matches in two weeks
Ukrainian tennis player Ilya Marchenko continues its victorious march through the tournament ATP Challenger Tour 50 in German Hamburg.
Ilya’s fight with Briton Billy Harris took place in equal competition and according to an unpredictable scenario. It lasted a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes.
In the first set, Marchenko led 5:2, but then allowed his opponent to level the score. Still, the final word remained with the Ukrainian – 7:5.
In the second game, Harris took revenge with a score of 6:3. Marchenko immediately started the third set with a break, leading 4:2 and 5:3, but again allowed his opponent to catch up with him. And again, two decisive games remained for Ilya. The Briton missed break points four times at 5:6, after which the Ukrainian converted the match point on the first try.
For the Ukrainian tennis player, this victory was already the eighth in nine matches that he played over two weeks.
In the final, Marchenko will fight with the first racket of the tournament, Austrian Dennis Novak. Let us note that just recently, on October 10, Ilya beat Dennis at a tournament in Bratislava. A new meeting will take place on Sunday, October 22, at 11:00.
