The eighth racket in the world is Czech Karolina Muchova will not participate in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) finals.
“It is with great regret that I announce that I will miss my first WTA final in Cancun. Together with the team and the doctors, we tried until the last minute to heal my wrist injury. Unfortunately, it takes longer to recover and so I had to make this unpleasant decision. I really appreciate the support from all the fans.
“I will do everything possible to return in 2024 and have another chance to participate in the final tournament,” Muchova wrote on the social network.
Muchova is 27 years old. The tennis player owns one WTA title, and in 2023 the athlete reached the final of Roland Garros, where she lost to Poland’s Iga Szwiatek.
The WTA Finals tournament will take place from October 29 to November 5 in Cancun, Mexico.
