American tennis player Jenson Brooksby suspended for a year and a half for missing three doping controls in 12 months, according to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) website.
The independent tribunal found that Brooksby’s level of culpability in the second missed doping test was high and that the 22-year-old was negligent in failing to meet anti-doping officers for the test within the required time frame. The first and third missed tests were not called into question.
Brooksby’s suspension will expire on January 4, 2025. During the suspension period, the American is prohibited from training, playing or attending tournaments. He has 21 days to appeal the ITIA’s decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Brooksby has not competed since the Australian Open and has undergone two wrist surgeries. The tennis player occupies 301st place in the ATP rankings; last season he rose to 33rd place.
