President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFT) Shamil Tarpishchev told that the Russian Football Union (RFU) asked him to present an invitation to the world’s first racket tennis player Novak Djokovic for the match between the Russian and Serbian national football teams.
Earlier, reported that Djokovic would receive an invitation from the RFU to attend the Russia-Serbia friendly match, and a decision on a possible visit of the athlete to Moscow would be made closer to the match date .
“I have to pass on information about the Russia-Serbia match to Novak and give him an invitation. I will talk to Novak, there is no problem,” Tarpishchev told .
In December, RFU President Alexander Dyukov announced an agreement to hold a friendly match with the Serbian national team in March 2024 on Russian territory. The exact location of the match will be determined later.
The match against the Serbs could be the first of the Russian national team against a European national team since the ban on participation in international competitions in February 2022. Previously, the Serbian national team reached the final part of the European Championship 2024.
