Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic rented Daniel Medvedev for his performance at the 2024 Australian Open, pointing out that the Russian was unlucky in the final.
On Sunday, Medvedev lost to the Italian Jannik sinner with scores of 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 3-6 in the Australian Open final, leading 2-0 in sets. In total, Medvedev has lost five times in the finals of Grand Slam tournaments and has one victory – against Djokovic at the 2021 US Open.
“Daniel made a huge effort. Today was unlucky, but you played an incredible tournament,” Djokovic wrote on the social network.
Before Sinner’s victory, Djokovic was the reigning Australian Open champion.
