The first racket of Ukraine Elina Svitolina failed to overcome the second round barrier at the tournament WTA 500 in French Strasbourg.
The Ukrainian lost to local tennis player Clara Burel in three sets. The fight lasted two hours and 18 minutes.
In the first game, Elina was constantly in the role of catching up. With the score 5:5, she managed to make a break on someone else’s serve, but immediately responded in kind, and lost in the tiebreak without a chance – 1:7.
In the second set, Svitolina led 4:1, then allowed her opponent to even the score, but still took revenge – 6:4. However, the decisive game remained with Burel – 6:1.
The strongest Ukrainian tennis player failed to defend her championship title in Strasbourg. Svitolina previously won this tournament in 2020 and 2023.
