Serbian world number one Novak Djokovic refused to participate further at Roland Garros due to a right knee injury, the tournament press service reports.
On Monday, Djokovic defeated Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round of Roland Garros – 6:1, 5:7, 3:6, 7:5, 6:3. At the start of the second set, the Serb needed a medical timeout due to knee problems.
Djokovic was due to face Norwegian Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals.
Djokovic is the reigning French Open champion. In total, the 37-year-old tennis player has three victories at Roland Garros.
