Athletistic / Tennis. President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Shamil Tarpishchev said that tennis player Elina Avanesyan has not been on the radar of his organization for a long time. According to him, Elina’s decision to compete for the Armenian national team is her personal right.
“Avanesyan has not been in the FTR orbit for a long time, so such news does not surprise me. She, it seems to me, has been living in Barcelona for three years. She will speak on behalf of Armenia – c ‘is his right.’ TASS quotes Tarpishchev as saying.
Elina Avanesyan is currently ranked 78th in the world. At the moment, she does not have any WTA tournament titles to her name. The 21-year-old tennis player’s best result in Grand Slam tournaments is reaching the fourth round (1/8 final) at Roland Garros in 2023 and 2024.
Avanesyan was born in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Territory). Earlier it became known that she began the process of obtaining Armenian citizenship in order to start playing for the national team of this country next season.
