2012 Olympic Games silver medalist Maria Sharapova has entered the list of candidates for inclusion in the International Tennis Hall of Fame, according to the organization’s official website.
Besides the 37-year-old Russian, the list of contenders includes Americans Bob and Mike Bryan, as well as Canadian Daniel Nestor.
Sharapova could become the third Russian representative in the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Previously, Marat Safin and Yevgeny Kafelnikov received this honor.
Sharapova is a former world number one and winner of five Grand Slam tournaments and 36 WTA singles tournaments. She announced her retirement from sport in February 2020.
