On the night of September 5-6, Moscow time, the world’s second-ranked tennis player, Belarusian tennis player Arina Sabalenka, defeated American Emma Navarro, ranked 12th in the WTA rankings, with a score of 6:3, 7:6 (7:2) in the semifinals of the US Open 2024 and qualified for the final of the tournament.

Sabalenka became the first tennis player in the last five years to reach the US Open final twice in a row. Last year, she lost in the final in three sets to American Cori Gauff (6:2, 3:6, 2:6). The last person to achieve a similar result was Serena Williams, who reached the 2018 and 2019 US Open finals.

Sabalenka’s opponent in the final will be the winner of the match between the world’s sixth-ranked Jessica Pegula, American, and the 52nd-ranked Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic.
