Giacomo Naldi, former world number one physiotherapist Jannik sinner expressed the hope that one day he will be able to tell the details of the doping scandal with the Italian tennis player.
Previously, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) registered an appeal filed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against the decision of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in the Sinner case.
“I’m really sorry, like everyone else, but I can’t say more because it’s not over yet.” I hope that sooner or later I will be able to tell you what happened to give you the whole picture. Because the way the story was interpreted by the public, it seemed like it was all my fault. But this is not the case, said Naldi, quoted by Corriere della Sera in reference to La Stampa.
In August, the ITIA announced that Sinner had tested positive for two drugs in March. He avoided disqualification because he proved that the banned substance, clostebol, entered his body by accident. The athlete’s physiotherapist used a spray containing a banned substance to treat the wound; the clostebol came into contact with Sinner’s skin through the cream during the massage. After the scandal, the tennis player fired Naldi and fitness trainer Umberto Ferrara.
