Nadal, 38, announced his retirement on Thursday. Medvedev lost to Nadal in deciding matches at the 2019 US Open and 2022 Australian Open.
— Rafa, thank you very, very much for your incredible career. Besides, thank you for the two Grand Slam tournaments that you took away from Daniil and his team!!! — wrote Cervara on social networks.
Nadal’s last tournament will be the Davis Cup Final Eight, which will take place in Malaga from November 19 to 24. He is a 22-time Grand Slam tournament winner and two-time Olympic champion.
