Polish tennis player Iga Schwentek admitted she was unsure about winning the US Open this season.
In the final of the tournament, the Pole defeated the representative of Tunisia, Ons Jaber, in straight sets – 6:2, 7:6.
– At the beginning of the season, I realized that I could possibly get good results in WTA tournaments. I also reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open. But I wasn’t sure I was at the level to win a Grand Slam, especially the US Open, where the coverage is so fast. It’s something I certainly didn’t expect. For me, this is another proof that there are no limits. I’m proud and a little surprised. I’m just happy I was able to do it,” the WTA press service quoted Schwentek as saying.
Now, Schwentek has three Grand Slam trophies to his credit. She has already won Roland-Garros twice (2020, 2022).
