Tarpischev reckons Ostapenko broke down after first set of Seoul tournament final with Alexandrova

President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishchev in a conversation with a correspondent, he expressed the opinion that after Ekaterina Alexandrova won the first game on a tie-break in the final of the tournament in Seoul, its rival Elena Ostapenko is broken down.

The Russian beat the Latvian tennis player 7:6 (7:4), 6:0 in the final of the tournament in Seoul.

– In the match against Ostapenko, the first set was decisive. Ekaterina won it in a tie-break, after which her opponent collapsed. The Latvian loves active attacking tennis, but she failed to improve, mistakes followed – and 0:6 as a result. We have to congratulate Alexandrova, who always held the tournament. In principle, she played one of her best tennis. So if the result is not natural, then at least it is deserved. Anyway, it’s good that she won the tournament in South Korea.

Can’t say she’s improved much this year, but she’s playing better than usual. The only thing is that he plays unevenly, unstable. However, it is still progressing in general, which is pleasing. Therefore, we managed to win the second title of the season, Tarpishchev told .

For Alexandrova, 27, this is the third WTA tournament won in singles.
