“No one has refused to play against Russian tennis players yet” – Tarpishchev

President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishchev said that to date there has not been a single case when a foreign athlete refused to take part in a match against a Russian opponent.

How are our tennis players treated abroad? Were there any provocations or protests?

– The most interesting thing is that there were no refuseniks against ours yet. Everyone is playing. Even the famous Wimbledon tournament, where we were not allowed, was deprived of ranking points, and the athletes supported us. And it turned out that Djokovic was second before Wimbledon, won Wimbledon and became eighth. (He burned last year’s points for the win.) Despite that, they’re with us.

– Shamil Anvyarovich, what about the Kremlin Cup?

— We want to do it in our own format. The Kremlin Cup also does not give points. It is impossible to organize competitions in our country. The 42 international tournaments we had, including challengers, children, etc., are all banned. Therefore, we will organize our own tournament under the Kremlin Cup brand. With our participants, and those who come from friendly countries. It will be a tennis festival for the Russians.

– When will it take place?

– We plan, from October 16th to 23rd. The same dates as before.

– And there will be a youth network?

– Yes. There will be qualifications. Who will fall, – quotes the words of Tarpishchev “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.
