14-year-old Russian tennis player suspended for 9 months for doping, meldonium found in his sample

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has suspended a 14-year-old Russian tennis player for breaking anti-doping rules, the ITIA news service reports.

In January, the athlete was randomly selected for doping control at the ITF tournament. Sample A contained traces of meldonium and sample B confirmed the positive result.

– The athlete is not allowed to participate or attend tennis events organized by the governing bodies of this sport until December 4, 2022. Considering the age and lack of education of the player, the ‘ITIA will conduct an individual training session as part of his recovery, working with the International Tennis Federation defense team to determine rules and responsibilities for the player’s sport integrity programs, the statement said. .
