Sanitra: The track in Lenzerheide is one of the most difficult I have seen in Europe

The coach is satisfied with the starting performance of the team

Male trainer national team of Ukraine biathlon Yuraj Sanitra shared his impressions after the individual race at the European Championship, which takes place in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

“The guys all fought, the competition is very strong: seven Norwegians at the start, six Germans. It was not so easy to achieve such a result. Glad that everyone showed character on the track. As for Anton [Дудченко], he rode from the very beginning in order to cope with the shooting, he set the pace well. It is a pity that there was that one mistake: he could run through with clean shooting. But I think that this is the best result for him in his career, the first medal at a big tournament. Therefore, we must congratulate him on this result.

“As for other athletes, Artem Prima looked very good on the track, but he did not cope with the shooting a bit. Artem Tishchenko also showed a very good result, given the late start number. In this race, Nasyko and Lesyuk didn’t do well with shooting. In general, on the team: I am satisfied, we will prepare for the next starts.

“We are at an altitude of 1450 meters above sea level – this is the strongest opponent. Secondly, there are very long ascents, descents with turns, the track is one that checks the physical condition well. It’s good that there was no strong wind at the shooting range, the sun affected the shooting a little. As for the track, I will say that this track is one of the most difficult that I have seen in Europe.”

Recall that Anton Dudchenko won silver in the individual race. The Ukrainian on the firing line made one miss and lost to the winner of the race Norwegian Endre Stremsheim for more than two minutes.

Blue-yellows in Switzerland have already won two medals. Julia Dzhima brought her team a silver medal in the individual race.

The event in Switzerland will continue with women’s and men’s sprints – the races will be held on January 27.
