Short tracker Balbekov: “There are no motivation problems, but I want to go to international competitions. There are other prices, and emotions”

Russian short tracker Vladimir Balbekov told he had no motivational issues in the season without international departures, but admitted he was experiencing negative emotions related to the suspension.

Balbekov at the Russian Championship, which ended on Sunday in Ufa, won the 1000 m.

– How has this Russian championship developed for you in general?

– I think, from the final on the “one and a half” it was clear that I wanted gold there, or at least silver, but I made a small mistake due to fatigue, jumped in a bit of a rut on the ice, lost my rhythm, position and just lost my way. But I still managed to get a medal.

In the “five hundred” too, in the final that’s all. I wanted to beat Kostya Ivliev at his crowning distance, but I missed him a bit, made a few mistakes and at the last turn I got completely excited, I decided to take a risk, to crush, to go on a wider trajectory in order to try to win the finish. I did not take into account that at the end of the distance the ice was already cut and the skate jumped.

How did the 1000m go?

– It seems that there are only four races, but each one is tense in its own way in terms of rivalry. In the hits, the whole “five hundred” pedestal was usually reached. But, of course, the semi-final, the final can be distinguished separately. In the final, there were already more allies than rivals.

How has this season gone mentally?

– Psychologically easy, but sad, boring. I managed to catch the international experience for a year. I just felt the flower start to bloom, as we cut off the oxygen. And there again, I run among those with whom I am always. Kinda sad about that.

– How long are you going to rest?

– A month of such active rest, since April we start working again. I have no problem with motivation, but I just want to go to international competitions. I think we can easily compete, fight for medals, and there are different prizes, different emotions and different experiences…

“And courage.

“It’s better not to allow courage during the distance, but after success there will be completely different praise and applause,” Balbekov told .
