President of Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe admitted that his main fear was jumping into the water upside down.
– Am I scared? Yes, when my children drive on long trips. Not only my own children, but also sports people. I worry about them.
I was very scared when our team came back from Norway after being suspended from the World Cup. It was then that I really had a terrible fear. I was not with the team at the time, but I was in constant contact with the athletes and the coaches, as well as the technicians who drove back and constantly informed me of the distance covered, the where they were.
I can confess what I’m really afraid of. I have never, even as a child, jumped into the water upside down. Many have persuaded me that each of my children and grandchildren can dive upside down, but I cannot. I look at them and rejoice, but I myself am afraid to try it. At the same time I jumped from the rocks into the water like a soldier, I can jump from any tower, but not upside down! I’m not afraid of anything else,” Vyalba told the Championship.
Vyalbe, 54, is a three-time Olympic cross-country skiing champion. She has been the head of the FLGR since 2010.
will broadcast the final stage of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Cup, which will take place in Kirovsk from April 7-9.
