Russian biathlete Ulyana Nigmatullina talked about why she started working with a psychologist.
— In one of your interviews, you admitted that you repeatedly turned to psychologists for help. What was your starting point? Inability to independently cope with competitive stress?
– No. Even with excessive anxiety, I never thought I needed outside help. I first turned to a specialist when I felt the absurdity of sports and, accordingly, of my life in general. It was in 2018. I consulted a psychologist for the second time while I was going on maternity leave. I needed to understand how to rebuild myself from sport to civilian life.
—Was it so difficult?
– Very. This probably happens because your entire previous life was spent in a certain mode for years and you simply don’t know or know how to do anything else.
– Well, are you able to fry eggs?
– Yes. I didn’t stay at home when I went on maternity leave, I continued to study at university. And I still felt how difficult it was to rebuild,” quotes Nigmatullina. RT .
