The ROC Athletes’ Commission will continue to seek full restoration of legal rights for Russian athletes

The Athletes’ Commission of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) considers it unacceptable to sign political declarations to obtain access to international competitions and will continue to fight for the full restoration of athletes’ legal rights.

An expanded meeting of the commission was held in Moscow on September 14-15, which was attended by the leaders of Russian and Belarusian sports organizations.

As for the unjustified exclusion of the vast majority of representatives of Russia and Belarus from international competitions, the position of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of China on the need to completely cancel any recommendations of a discriminatory nature and the parameters of The categorically unacceptable admission, including the signing of any kind of political declarations, was fully supported by representatives of all those who took part in the meeting of all-Russian sports federations.

The Athletes’ Commission thanks the country’s leadership, the general public, the Russian Olympic community and the Ministry of Sports for the moral and other comprehensive support to current athletes who were illegally deprived of the opportunity to participate in international competitions on a equal footing with athletes from other countries.

At the end of March, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced recommendations for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual admission, neutral status, banning participation in team sports, and banning the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO. The decision regarding the Summer Olympics in Paris will be announced later. The IOC did not invite the ROC to the Games on the set date of July 26.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
