A biathlete from Mongolia won a gold medal at an international competition for the first time

Representative of Mongolia Enkhbat Enkhsaikhan won the individual race at the European Junior Biathlon Championships in Jakuszyce (Poland).

The 21-year-old athlete covered the 15-kilometer distance in 44 minutes 34.8 seconds, without making a single mistake on four shooting ranges. Second place went to Finland’s Kalle Loukkaanhuhta (+1.6; 0 misses), and third to Estonian Jakob Kulbin (+20.0; +2).

For the first time in the history of biathlon, a Mongolian athlete was able to win a gold medal at an international competition.

In March 2022, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from participation in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
