Russian Curling Federation delegation invited to World Curling Congress in Canada

President of the Russian Curling Federation (RFC) Dmitri Svishtchev told that representatives of the organization were invited to the World Curling Federation (WCF) Council Congress in Canada.

The World Curling Congress will be held September 5-8 in Montreal, Canada.

— The Russian Curling Federation has been invited to the congress. I am under sanctions, alas, I will not go personally. And I do not really want to. The congress will take place in the fall. Olga Zharkova, Ekaterina Galkina and Anton Batugin will come from us, they will represent our interests there, “Svishchev told .

In March 2022, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, the WCF announced the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. On July 11, it was again announced that the suspension would be extended, this time until the end of 2024.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended in March 2023 that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes and only those who have not publicly expressed support for the CWO and are not associated with the armed forces or national security agencies. At the same time, Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in international team sports competitions.
