Former basketball player CSKA Jonas Jerebko criticized the Swedish Basketball Federation after being suspended from playing for the national team.
In March, the Swedish Basketball Association (SBBF) announced that Jerebko could not represent the national team due to his decision to play in Russia. Yerebko, who turned 35 in March, signed a contract with CSKA Moscow on March 30 until the end of the season.
– What started as a “suspension” turned into a “blacklist”. No response from senior management. Maybe the answer would be appropriate, considering what I’ve done for this country,” Yerebko wrote on Twitter.
General Secretary of the Federation Fredrik Yulamo responded to these player statements.
“Recently, Jonas had a virtual meeting with our president, recently I myself corresponded with him. There was no detailed dialogue, but the fact that we are talking about blacklisting is not true at all.
It is obvious to us that we have no problem with the person Jonas Jerebko, but there is a problem with the choice he made, – quotes the official sports blade .
Before CSKA, Yerebko played for the Moscow region “Khimki” . The basketball player left Russia in 2022. He is currently on free agent status.
