This policy sets out how Athletistic reports, sources and edits its journalism. It applies to every article we publish.
Accuracy
We verify factual claims before publication. Where a claim cannot be independently confirmed, we attribute it plainly to its source rather than presenting it as established fact. If a story develops after publication, we update it and show the revision time.
Sourcing
We name our sources wherever possible and link to primary material such as official statements, filings, transcripts and published research. Anonymous sourcing is used only where there is a clear public interest and the information cannot be obtained another way.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom. Advertisers, partners and commercial relationships have no influence over coverage. Any sponsored or partner content is labelled as such and is not written by our editorial staff.
Bylines and accountability
Every article carries the name of the person responsible for it, along with a publication date and, where relevant, an update time. Author pages list that writer’s work and the subjects they cover.
Fairness
Where our reporting is critical of a person or organisation, we seek their response before publication and include it. If a response arrives after publication, we add it.
Use of AI tools
Automated tools may assist with tasks such as transcription, translation or formatting. Editorial judgement, verification and final responsibility for every published article rest with a named human editor.
Distinguishing news from opinion
Comment, analysis and opinion are labelled and presented separately from news reporting.
