Kiev residents cannot register new players
FIBA imposed a transfer ban on Budivelnik.
The ban on registering new players has been in effect since September 27. The capital club was banned due to debts to ex-Kiev player Gian Clavell.
As a result of the trial, Budivelnik must pay Clavell more than $26 thousand. According to the decision of the Basketball Arbitration Tribunal, the Kiev club must pay the Puerto Rican 20 thousand dollars for previously outstanding debt and 6160 euros (about 6.9 thousand dollars) as various costs.
The attacking defender played for Budivelnik from 2021 to 2022, becoming a silver medalist in the Ukrainian Super Cup. In 2022, the Puerto Rican national team player left Ukraine and moved to the championship of his native country. However, in June of that year he continued his career in Prometheus.
Budivelnik became the champion of Ukraine last season, winning 31 matches in the Super League and losing one.
The new season of the Favbet Super League starts on October 3 with two bubbles, which will take place in Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk.
