American guard Jaylen Brunson has signed a four-year contract with the New York Knicks, the NBA club’s press service reports.
According to media reports, the 27-year-old basketball player will earn $156.5 million under the new deal. Brunson’s agent said the player could have extended his contract next year and received $113 million more, but the basketball player made concessions to increase the Knicks’ chances of winning the title.
“Jalen has risen to every challenge since arriving in New York and has committed to the plan we have developed for the team from day one. Since joining us two years ago, Jaylen has consistently led by example and continues to demonstrate his willingness to sacrifice for this organization, his teammates and the entire Knicks family,” said Knicks President Leon Rose.
Brunson has played for New York since 2022. Last regular season, the guard averaged 28.7 points per game. Brunson finished fifth in voting for the season’s Most Valuable Player Award.
