Basketball AmeriCup 2022: what’s the format
The tournament will be played in two rounds. In the first group stage, the 12 participating teams were divided into three groups (A, B and C) of four teams each. Teams play, in a round robin system, once against each opponent in the group. At the end of this stage, the two best teams in each group plus the two best third parties qualify for the quarterfinals.
The final stage is by direct elimination from a game. The four quarter-final winners advance to the semi-finals, where their losers play a match for third place, while the winners play in the final.
