Russian fighter Ali Isaev to compete in Bellator for Azerbaijan

russian fighter Ali Isaev told that he will represent Azerbaijan in Bellator.

PFL champion Isaev (9-0 in MMA) told that he was forced to get a visa for the United States using an Azerbaijani foreign passport, since the fighter’s Russian passport is in the one of the American consulates. Isaev has been fighting for the Azerbaijan national team since 2007, became European champion in 2009 and opened a visa at the American consulate in Baku in 2022:

– I will represent Azerbaijan, they opened a visa for me in an Azerbaijani passport. I fought for this country, my passport remained, there was no other choice and I went to solve the problem. And I still have a Russian passport under consideration, they will not issue me a visa in any case.

“That is to say that you still have a Russian passport at the consulate and that you opened it in Azerbaijani?”

— Yes, and I applied to Baku. I will play for my second country, I will wait for my visa to open, there is no time at all,” Isaev told .

The wrestler switched to MMA in 2016 and won nine out of nine fights. At the moment, Ali Isaev’s break from performances is over three years after the heavyweight won the fight against Jared Rosholt on December 31, 2019.
