Lomachenko: I’m not against a rematch with Teofimo Lopez, but at what weight is it possible?

The Ukrainian is also interested in the fight with Naoya Inoue

Former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko not against a rematch with the former undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. However, the Ukrainian does not see the opportunity to meet two boxers because of the big difference in weight.

“Yes, it is very interesting, but at what weight? Everyone knows he can’t come back at 135 and everyone knows it’s not my weight class. I can’t get to 140 pounds. After that, you ask me for Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.”

“Of course, it is always interesting to fight against the best fighters close to our weight class. I see Inoue’s fight. He is a top fighter and world champion. It’s always interesting to watch someone who understands boxing.”

“It can happen, but I need to try to get back to 126 pounds. I already forgot how to do less weight, ”said Lomachenko.

The Ukrainian lost to Teofimo Lopez in October 2020 by decision and lost his lightweight championship belts. After that, Lopez moved up to light welterweight and has no plans to return to the previous category.

Lomachenko will face undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney next. The fight will take place on May 20 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden and will be broadcast on the PPV system on ESPN+.
