ASA Grand Prix semi-final between Vartanyan and Raisov postponed from September 17 to November

Russian Mixed Martial Artist (MMA) Edward Vartanyan will undergo surgery, so his fight in the ACA League Grand Prix semi-finals with his compatriot Yusuf Raisov will not take place on September 17, but will be postponed to November. This was stated by ASA President Alexei Yatsenko.

In the quarter-finals, Raisov beat Brazilian Hakran Diaz in late March and Vartanyan beat South Africa’s Alain Ilungu in mid-May.

– After the Vartanyan fight, we announced that the semi-final fight between Eduard and Raisov will take place on September 17 in Moscow. Vartanyan will have to undergo surgery, so on September 17 their fight will not take place. This fight will take place in November, we will announce the exact date later. I hope that the second semi-final will also take place in November,” Yatsenko told reporters.

On the other side of the Grands Prix grid, the quarter-finals have yet to take place. Kazakh Artem Reznikov June 17 in Sochi will meet the Brazilian Davey Ramos.

The Brazilian has been playing in the UFC since March 2017 and during that time he managed to get four wins with three losses in the organization. Ramos has lost his last two UFC fights against Islam Makhachev (in September 2019) and Arman Tsarukyan (in July 2020). Since then, the Brazilian fighter has not fought.

Reznikov, 30, has 22 wins and six losses. The fighter is on an eight win streak. The last time Reznikov entered the octagon was in September 2020, beating Russian Yusuf Raisov. It should be noted that Raisov has already reached the semi-finals of the ACA Grand Prix.

In another quarter-final on July 22 in Sochi, Russia’s Rashid Magomedov and Ali Bagov will meet. Magomedov, 37, has 25 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw. Bagov, 32, has 32 wins and 10 losses.
