Basil again turned to God
Former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko on social networks called on the Ukrainian people to unite in the fight against the Russian Federation.
“We need to be like-minded people in our country. If we can achieve this, our enemies will retreat. The people of Israel were defeated by their enemies whenever they departed from the Lord, but the Lord always led them to sincere repentance.”
“The Lord is always with us. People are changeable like the wind. Today they are for you, tomorrow they are against you. Who can stop the wind? Who can please the whole world? If you try to please everyone, you are bound to get into trouble.”
Lomachenko has repeatedly demonstrated his commitment to the UOC-MP on social networks. Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier and public figure Yevgeny Karas, as well as the chief of staff of the Azov regiment Bogdan Krotevich, announced the “recruitment” of Lomachenko. Vasily was supported by Ukrainian boxer Ivan Redkach.
The boxer on social networks has repeatedly published a video interview with the Metropolitan of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate Longin. In the course of his monologues, Longin says that “Ukraine has started a war against God, the Church of the Lord and the Ukrainian people.”
Last summer, Lomachenko published a video interview with Metropolitan Luka of Zaporozhye and Melitopol for the BBC Russian service, who claimed that Ukrainians deserved the bombing by the Russian army. Lomachenko was also seen in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
Lomachenko has previously refused to call Russia an aggressor. After the start of a full-scale Russian invasion, the boxer joined the ranks of the territorial defense of Belgorod-Dnestrovsky.
Vice-President of the League of Professional Boxing of Ukraine Alina Shaternikova stated that Vasyl has been a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the beginning of a full-scale war.
In his last fight, the Ukrainian lost to Devin Haney. Shakur Stevenson could become Vasily’s next possible opponent.
