Conor McGregor will not return at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler due to injury, and Poatan faces a rematch in the main fight of the event
The return of Conor McGregor to the octagon was postponed, as the fighter will no longer be present at the UFC 303, which takes place on June 29th. The event was scheduled to have a fight between the Irish and michael chandler, but ‘The Notorious’ was injured and is unable to take action. Thus, the organization announced a new main fight, which features the Brazilian Alex Poatan as the protagonist.
Poatan will defend the light heavyweight title against the former champion of the category Jiri Prochazka. The Czech defeated Aleksander Rakic at UFC 300 and put himself in a position to fight for the belt. At the same event, two and a half months ago, the Brazilian needed just a few minutes to take down Jamahal Hill.
Prochazka and Poatan have already faced each other in a title fight, in November 2023, precisely because of Jamahal Hill’s absence. Thus, the Czech fighter took responsibility and entered the octagon against the Brazilian. In just two rounds, Alex Pereira knocked out his opponent and remained champion. Less than a year later, the rematch arrived.
