Russian Middleweight ASA Artem Frolov admitted he was tired of fighters’ empty statements and trash talk.
On Friday in Sochi, Frolov will meet Salamu Abdurakhmanov in a middleweight fight on the main card of the ACA 177 tournament. Frolov has 18 wins and six losses, while Abdurakhmanov has 16 wins and two losses.
“Now I am a completely different fighter than in the fight with (current ASA champion Magomedrasul) Gasanov (in August 2022). Technically, I’m developing, I’ve become more powerful, I’ve changed my approach to cutting and I’m entering the fight bigger! I have a good fight. I have a chance, but don’t count on it. When you think about it, it’s hard to convey. The blow will come by itself, the main thing is to take courage! In preparation, we tried to consolidate the old and return to the “classics”. We have been working individually with Nikolai Nikitenko for about a year, I think we are adding value and approaching things smarter.
Salamu is a versatile fighter. I often have something to say about my opponent, but I often prefer to remain silent. I understand that my restraint does not benefit my popularity, but I am who I am. And I don’t want people to blush for me! I’m already fed up with the empty chatter of this world! I believe a man should be restrained and watch his tongue! I stick to doing my thing in the cage and not chatting in vain! – said Frolov, whose words to were provided by the press service of the ASA.
Frolov also recalled his confrontation with Magomed Ismailov in September 2019 at the ACA tournament, when Frolov lost by unanimous decision.
— At ACA, I would be interested in a rematch with Magomed Ismailov, he is a big star in Russia and, of course, many would at least compete with him. I have a sporting understatement after our fight, and I have become more experienced! I’m sure I can beat Ismailov in a rematch! – added the fighter.
The ASA 177 tournament will be broadcast live on the channel. The broadcast begins on June 28 at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time.
