Tunisian wrestler Amin Guennichi has been excluded from the national team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended him for four years for violating anti-doping rules, Reuters reports.
In 2023, Gennichi won a gold medal at the Arab Games in Greco-Roman wrestling in the weight category up to 130 kg.
Gennichi was disqualified for “intentionally failing to comply with the requirements of the anti-doping officer.” The 25-year-old was suspended for four months and was able to participate in the Olympic qualifying tournament, where he earned a ticket to Paris 2024.
However, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed to CAS, which disqualified the athlete for an anti-doping rule violation.
The Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11.
