IBA chief Kremlev said Italy’s Carini would receive prize money after refusing to continue the fight with Khelif at the 2024 Olympics.

International Boxing Association (IBA) President Umar Kremlev said the Italian Angela Carini will receive a cash prize for his performance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Earlier, Karini had broken down in tears after refusing to continue the 1/8 final match against Algeria’s Iman Khelif at the 2024 Games. In 2023, the IBA suspended Khelif from the World Cup in India for failing to meet the eligibility criteria. Following the gender test, the athlete was found to have XY chromosomes. The IOC cleared Khelif to compete in women’s competitions in 2024.

– Why do all the far-right people speak out in favor of the fact that it is a man and how can we explain all the money that the Italian woman will receive? Maybe it is a pre-planned action? – asked the journalist.

— Why shouldn’t athletes receive money when sports officials live in five-star hotels and take private flights? The IBA announced the prize money for the Olympics even before the Games began. The Olympics are now reserved for boxers – selection for the IBA World Championship,” the correspondent reports, citing Kremlev’s words.

The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
