The Brazilian champion held his third successful defense in six months
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira (12-2) with a confident victory over the American Khalil Rowntree (13-6) defended its title in Salt Lake City.
This fight became the tournament headliner UFC 307which took place in the capital of Utah.
The challenger started actively, and at first the titled Brazilian had a hard time. The champion managed to turn the tide of the fight in the third round. Rowntree was clearly tired, and in the fourth five minutes Pereira’s advantage was already overwhelming. The challenger did not last until the end of the round – he fell to the floor, and the referee recorded Pereira’s victory by knockout.
The 37-year-old Brazilian made his third successful defense of the light heavyweight title, won last fall in a fight with Jiri Prochazka. Let us remind you that in April of this year, Alex defeated Jamal Hill by technical knockout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA, after which in the summer he again defeated Prochazka in a re-fight.
