Vadim Kornilov hopes that the fight will receive qualifying status from some organization
Vadim Kornilovmanager of former junior middleweight world champion from Uzbekistan Israila Madrimov (10-0-2, 7 KOs) hopes that the WBA, WBC or other organizations will give qualifying status for the fight with the Ukrainian Sergei Bogachuk (24-2, 23 KOs).
“Madrimov is here to fight. It’s not like either of them lost their last fight and now they both want redemption.”
“It’s about that and getting back on the card and not just fighting someone. Madrimov feels he didn’t lose to Crawford. So we can win this fight and push for a rematch with Terence.”
“These Riyadh events are of great importance to us. They get a lot of attention. Our guys don’t just want to win, they want a challenge.”
Bogachuk lost to Virgil Ortiz by split decision in his last fight. In the first and eighth rounds, Bogachuk knocked down his opponent. However, after 12 rounds, one judge recorded a draw, the other two gave preference to Ortiz.
Madrimov also lost his last fight. In August, the Uzbek fighter lost to Terence Crawford in the fight for the interim WBO junior middleweight title. Israil also lost his WBA belt, won in March in a fight with Magomet Kubranov.
