Joe Joyce: Usyk may want to get smaller to increase speed

Ukrainian can specifically lose weight

Interim WBO World Heavyweight Champion Joe Joyce stated that the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO titles Oleksandr Usyk conducts special training for the fight against the WBC champion Tyson Fury.

“Yes, he looks fit. It’s good. He seems healthy and strong. The tendril swims, so he probably has good stamina. Perhaps he wants to become smaller in order to increase his speed. Probably Usyk gained weight to get stronger, but I don’t know if this power was effective. So maybe he just wants to be fast.”

On April 15, Joyce will face Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei. Joyce knocked out Joseph Parker in his last fight and became the interim WBO champion. After the victory over Parker, Joyce challenged the Ukrainian Usyk to fight.

According to promoter Frank Warren, Usyk-Fury is scheduled for the end of March – the beginning of April. According to promoter Bob Arum, the date and place of the fight should be determined this week.
