The famous Amsterdam club will now be coached by local specialist Maurice Stein.
Ajax has decided on a new head coach for the team. According to the official website of the Amsterdam club, Maurice Stein has been appointed to the post of mentor. The Dutchman has signed a three-year deal with the club. Other terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Note that the specialist is often only known for working with local clubs. Previously led by Dan Haag, Venlo, Brad and Sparta. The latter took 6th place last season. The only foreign team in Stein’s career was Al Wahda from the UAE.
Recall that Ajax has been looking for a new coach since January, when Alfred Schreuder was fired due to unsatisfactory results.
Johnny Heitinga was named interim coach. Under his leadership, Ajax finished third in the Eredivisie and failed to qualify for the Champions League. In the Dutch Cup final, Heitinga’s wards lost to PSV.
