Oranje finished second in Group B
Team Netherlands snatched victory over Greece in an away qualifying match European Championship 2024 – 1:0.
Oranje had an overwhelming advantage in the first half, but failed to convert their chances. In particular, Wout Weghorst missed the penalty.
The Greeks were one step away from a draw. However, already in stoppage time of the second half, Virgil van Dijk converted another penalty. Finally, the coach of the Greek national team, Gustavo Poyet, saw the red card in front of him.
The Netherlands scored 12 points and moved into second place in Group B. Oranje are level on points with Greece, but have a game in hand.
The Greek national team will play its final qualifying match for Euro 2024 with France, which previously secured its place in the final tournament ahead of schedule. The Netherlands will face Ireland on November 18 and Gibraltar on November 21.
