The 2024 Women’s Super League season begins on March 9. The same day, in the 1st round, Zenit will host the tournament debutant, Spartak. The match starts at 5:30 p.m. Zenit are the current champions of Russia, having won gold medals in the previous two seasons. This year, 13 teams will participate in the Super League. In addition, signs for matches such as Zenit – Spartak, CSKA – Spartak will add interest to the Super League. What do we know about Spartak? He had a good transfer campaign during the offseason. The player selection is pretty good. But it’s still difficult to say something specific about the team, because we haven’t seen them in the championship matches.
— “Spartak” was initially supposed to be formed in such a way as to immediately try to fight for high places. At the same time, they wrote that the “reds and whites” would be interested in players from the big clubs. Was there any interest from the newcomer in the Zenit players?
– I only know one thing now: we have a completely preserved team and not a single Zenit player is in Spartak. So we probably did everything right.
— How would you rate Zenit’s winter transfer campaign?
“We certainly haven’t become weaker.” Those who have borrowed, it is only a plus for them. The footballers will train in the Super League and we will also see them from the outside. As for Ana Dias, the separation was not easy. We worked together for a long time and got used to it. It was difficult for her and for us to separate. But Ana can be understood. She spent a lot of time away from her family and loved ones. It’s not easy either. Therefore, they treated his decision with understanding. On the other hand, those who came have good qualities and will bring us variety.
— What can you say about the new championship formula?
— I can’t say that past formats were bad for us. It will be a mistake because we have become champions twice in a row. Yes, the formats change often, but we are used to it. And now it’s even interesting what the RFU will offer us in this regard in the new season. But, most likely, taking into account the emergence of new teams, we will now play the classics in two rounds.
— After two consecutive championships, has the team become more confident or will it be even more difficult now?
— Last year the team was quite nervous only because at the beginning and during the season everyone was talking and wondering if it was difficult to retain the championship. In my opinion, last year has not yet adapted the team to this. Now she feels calmer and more confident,” the correspondent of reports Poryadina’s words.
