Polesie parted ways with midfielder Ogirey

The experienced ex-captain left the team after almost three years at the club.

Polesie officially announced separation from the experienced midfielder Vladislav Ogirey.

“I want to thank the fans for their constant support and the way they inspired me to play. Every time I went out on the field with the captain’s armband, I felt that the guys and I had to give our 100% so as not to let down those who are always with the team. My time at the club was really enjoyable for me, and a piece of Zhytomyr will remain with me forever,” the 33-year-old footballer said in parting.

Ogirya joined the Zhytomyr club in the summer of 2021, having transferred from Desna. As part of Polesie, he played 49 matches, 22 of them with the captain’s armband. This season, Vladislav has 14 appearances on the field.

In two matches in 2024, Yuri Kalitvintsev’s team scored only one point. In the home match of the 19th round against LNZ (0:1), the Zhytomyr team interrupted its streak of 13 official matches without defeat.

Polesie ranks fifth in the UPL with 33 points. In the next match, Kalitvintsev’s team will host Alexandria on March 9.
