Having defeated Vorskla, the Miners added the Cup to their championship medals
Head coach Shakhtar Marino Pusic summed up the final match for Ukrainian Cupin which his team beat Vorskla (2:1), and the whole season.
“I’m very pleased, it’s an incredible emotion. I am grateful to all the employees of our club, especially our players. They had a very good season and did everything so that we could complete the golden double.”
“Unfortunately, Georgy Sudakov was injured in the last training session. But this is not a serious injury, he will be ready to play at the Euros.”

“Vorskla was not surprised – we already played against them and analyzed their game. In the first half, both teams had few chances. There was an episode when Dmitry Riznyk made a save. There were more chances in the second half, we scored twice. Also today their wingers played more wide.”

Let us remind you that Shakhtar beat Vorskla in the Cup final with a score of 2:1, and in the first half, with the score 0:0, Riznyk took a one-on-one performance from Ibrahim Kane. Thanks to this success, the Pitmen surpassed Dynamo in the number of Ukrainian Cups won – 14 versus 13.
Prior to this, Pusic’s team managed to win the championship title ahead of schedule, defeating Dynamo in a head-to-head confrontation. Until the end of the season, Shakhtar has two matches left to play – both away, against Dnepr-1 and Polesie.
