Vitaly, recovering from an injury, celebrated his 25th birthday at the national team camp
Defender Everton And Ukrainian national team Vitaly Mykolenko commented on his recovery process, spoke about his first training session with the national team on German soil, and also about how he celebrated his birthday.
“The first day, we just got ready, not everyone has arrived yet. I think we will feel this pressure closer to the matches. I warmed up with the team and worked with the ball. My recovery is going according to plan. Our medical staff said that the dynamics are positive. I hope to be in the main group soon.”
“Sergei Stanislavovich congratulated him on his birthday. Nothing special, I wished him health, which is the most important thing in our profession and in life in general, more victories, not only on the field, but also off it. Very often we have to celebrate birthdays in national teams, starting from the U-17 level. I believe that 25 years is a normal age for a football player. Not young, but not old either. This is exactly the golden mean.”
Vitaly turned 25 on May 29th. Let us remind you that the Everton defender missed the end of the season due to an injury he received at the end of April in a match with Liverpool (2:0). Mikolenko later said that he would not need surgery and planned to play at the 2024 European Championships.
On May 30, the Ukrainian national team held its first training session in Germany. Mikolenko took part in running work and working with the ball, but was exempt from group exercises (like Georgy Sudakov).
Yesterday, the Ukrainian national team arrived in Nuremberg, after which it settled in the neighboring city of Herzogenaurach, where it will spend the next few days of the training camp. Sergei Rebrov’s team will play three friendly matches before the Euro: on June 3 with Germany (in Nuremberg), on June 7 with Poland (away) and on the 11th with Moldova in Chisinau.
On June 12, the Ukrainian team will move from Nuremberg to Wiesbaden, its base city during the continental championship. Wiesbaden is the capital of the federal state of Hesse in western Germany, located next to Mainz and Darmstadt, near Frankfurt.
At the group stage of the 2024 European Championship, the blue-yellows will successively play with the national teams of Romania (June 17), Slovakia (June 21) and Belgium (June 26). The matches will take place in Munich, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, respectively.
