In a fierce battle, the Ukrainian lost to the Latvian representative Semenista
Ukrainian tennis player Katarina Zavatskaya lost her first round match at the tournament WTA 125 in Montreux, Switzerland.
The Ukrainian’s opponent was Daria Semenistaya from Latvia. The match consisted of three sets and lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes.
Katarina started the first set with a successful break, but immediately lost her own serve. The fight was equal until the very end, but the tenth game became fatal for Zavatskaya. She won back four set points on her serve, but Semenistaya finally won on the fifth attempt – 6:4.
In the second set, the Ukrainian representative took a convincing revenge – 6:2. In the third set, history repeated itself: Zavatska was the first to realize the break (3:2), but her opponent immediately responded in kind. As a result, a sad deja vu happened – a defeat on her serve with a score of 4:5 and elimination from the tournament.
Let us recall that at the end of August, Katarina took part in the US Open 2024 qualification, but was unable to overcome the starting barrier in the person of Japanese Ena Shibahara.
