MFC Metallurg Zaporozhye officially welcomed the new coaching staff led by Ilya Bliznyuk. Became assistant mentors Vladimir Polevoy, Dmitry Nevmyvaka, Evgeniy Protsenko And Alexey Melnik.
Let us remind you that on the last day of September Metallurg announced the resignation of head coach Vladimir Shapovalov, as well as his coaching staff.
51-year-old Bliznyuk is a native of Zaporozhye. Throughout his career, he played for Metallurg Dnepr, Zirka, Dynamo and Krivbass, as well as a number of Russian clubs – Rostselmash, Spartak-Alania, Rostov, Tom and Shinnik.
Ilya burst into his coaching career quickly: at the age of 35, he became the head coach of Illichivets and led the elite division team from 2008 to 2010. Subsequently, he worked as a chief in Zirka, Poltava, FC Ednist, PFC Sumy and Nikolaev. From the summer of 2021 to March 2024, he worked in the structure of MFC Metallurg.
The Zaporozhye club is in 8th (penultimate) place in Group B of the First League, gaining five points in eight matches. In the last three matches, Shapovalov’s team suffered defeats. Metallurg is scheduled to play its next match on October 3. Kremin will become a rival of the Cossacks.
