Pusic: I have a contract with Shakhtar for one and a half years and intentions to stay as long as possible

The coach openly stated his desire to continue working at the head of the Miners

Mentor of Donetsk Shakhtar Marino Pusic said that he plans to work in the Donetsk club for no less than the initial term of his employment contract with the Miners.

“I have a contract with Shakhtar for a year and a half and intend to stay as long as possible, because I feel responsible – not only in a general sense to the club, but especially to my players and the people who work at the club.”

“Despite all these difficulties and circumstances in the country, I am not the kind of person who will just leave. We have a great future ahead of us, and in football you never know what will happen because the world is very unpredictable. But I intend to stay at the club as long as possible.”

Pusic took charge of Shakhtar in October, signing a contract until 2026. The Croatian formed a new coaching staff, which included Andriy Pyatov, Mario Stanic, physical training coach Roel Tamber, as well as assistant coaches Jeroen Schepens and Chris van der Weerden.

The Bosnian won the golden double with the Miners (UPL and Ukrainian Cup) at the end of last season, allowing the club to qualify for the main stage of the 2024/25 Champions League.

Shakhtar are currently in third place in the Premier League standings. In the Champions League, Pusic’s men are in 27th place after four rounds and will face PSV today.
