The Pitmen topped the UPL standings
Miner won Chernomorets (2:1) in the match of the 4th round Ukrainian Premier League. The fight took place at the Lviv Arena.
Roman Grigorchuk’s team unexpectedly took the lead already in the 9th minute of the meeting after an accurate shot by Maksim Bragaru.
The Pitmen managed to bounce back after the break — in the 74th minute, Marian Shved closed Bohdan Mykhailychenko’s cross. In injury time, after an accurate shot by Oleg Ocheretko, the ball ricocheted from Lassina Traore and flew into the goal and brought victory to the team of Igor Jovicevich.
Shakhtar moved up to the top spot in the UPL, one point ahead of Veres and Zorya. Chernomorets is 11th in the standings.
In the next round of the UPL, Shakhtar will meet with Metalist, and Chernomorets – with Oleksandriya. The base match date is October 1st.
On September 14, Shakhtar will play against Celtic in the Champions League in Warsaw. In the first round of the European Cup, the Pitmen defeated RB Leipzig – 4:1.
