Valtteri Bottas: I really hope for rain

In Monaco, Valtteri Bottas only qualified 12th, but he doesn’t believe he lost first practice due to the MGU-K retirement.

His teammate Guanyu Zhou was thwarted by red flags and set only a 20th time.

Valtteri Bottas (12th): “Today went well. I was able to find the settings, get the right grip. On a fast lap I was sure I would show a good time, but I got pretty far.

It’s not about losing the first workout. I was sure we would be fast in Monaco, but that turned out not to be the case, the car just didn’t have enough speed and we have to find the reason.

I think it has to do with the course. Our car is still good, it just didn’t fit on the track in Monaco today.

I really hope for rain. From the 12th place you welcome any situation that can affect the balance of power.

Guanyu Zhou (20th): “Very disappointing result. The red flags appeared just seconds before I completed the fast lap. As a result, I was the only one who could not show the time on the second set of tires, and on urban roads, such as in Monaco, the asphalt condition is constantly improving, so the first attempt would not have been enough for me anyway .

After qualifying resumed, the slow exit of the cars in front of me meant that I didn’t have time to start my attempt. Not the easiest weekend, but I’m sure together with the team we will find a way out and break through to the top. In tomorrow’s race we will do everything in our power. The weather can influence the course of the race, so we will try to get a good result.”
